Owasco Lake is one of the eastern Finger Lakes located in Central New York. I’ve spent a lot of time working on this lake (studying the water quality) but haven’t had a chance to just enjoy the lake on my time. This past weekend I finally got that chance. The idea was to go out on a photo safari but the weather was terrible on Saturday – in the course of an hour it rained, snowed, and the wind blew ferociously. It was just plain no fun being outside no matter how well dressed I was or my camera was. Sunday morning was a whole different story though. The wind was light, the weather warmer, and the morning light and clouds were perfect! We were out on the pier by 8:30 am. After walking around a bit I took this shot off the bridge over the Owasco Lake inlet with a view toward the lake. I also took a panoramic shot that I will upload to my gallery soon. After taking some pictures we ate a HUGE breakfast and then did a little more hiking before heading for home. It was a great photo safari morning and I’m looking forward to going back when the trees are all leafed out.
